How it works
The probe, piece by piece: the protocol it speaks to OpenOCD, its firmware, the log it keeps on its own, and how it updates itself without being unplugged.
- CMSIS-DAP over the networkEliott65Sonde's port 4441: CMSIS-DAP over TCP for OpenOCD, a processor written for the project, and a simulated target to try everything without hardware.
- The Pico W firmwareEliott65Sonde's firmware on the Pico W: SWD produced by a small PIO program, Wi-Fi through lwIP with no operating system, the mDNS name and the two TCP servers.
- The local logEliott65Sonde's local log: periodic readings, triggers and snapshots taken by the probe on its own, then read back in batches, to avoid the cost of Wi-Fi.
- Updates over the networkUpdating Eliott65Sonde over Wi-Fi: image checked in flash, a boot loader that installs it on trial, and an automatic return to the old firmware on failure.
